The Governor hosted a morning tea for the recipients of the Western Australian Seniors Awards 2019.
The Western Australian Seniors Awards acknowledge individuals, local government and businesses that make our state both age-friendly and vibrant.
The Awards are hosted by the Council on Ageing Western Australia (COTA WA) on behalf of the Government of Western Australia.
The recipients of the WA Seniors Awards 2019, as announced on the COTA (WA) website (external link) are:
- Angela McCluskey awarded the WA Seniors Award 2019 Metropolitan, for establishing the Forget-me-not café community group for people living with dementia and their carers.
- Rae Endersby received the WA Seniors Award 2019 Regional, as a volunteer for over 30 years to the Friends of the Murray Districts Hospital Group as well as operating a voluntary patient trolley service for those experiencing hardships.
- The City of Bayswater won the WA Age Friendly Local Government award, for initiatives following the launch of the City’s Age Friendly Strategy in 2017.
- Hawaiian’s Melville received the WA Age Friendly Business Award for its active involvement in the Melville Age-Friendly and Accessible Businesses network.
The Council on the Ageing (WA) Inc is is one of the Governor’s patronage organisations.
