Governor welcomes international education agents

The Honourable Kim Beazley AC, Governor of Western Australia hosted a reception for a group of visiting international education agents on Monday 5th November.

The group of 17 agents from China, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia are in Perth for a week-long familiarisation tour, coordinated by StudyPerth. The group will visit Curtin University, The University of Western Australia, Edith Cowan Univeristy and Notre Dame, as well as the Swan Valley, Rottnest Island and Fremantle.

The tour will build on the agent’s existing knowledge of Perth as a world class study destination and increase their awareness of what life is like for international students living, working, playing and studying in Perth.

The State Government, in partnership with StudyPerth, recently launched the Where Bright Futures Begin: International Education in Perth, Western Australia 2018-2025 strategy to grow the number of international students choosing to study in Western Australia.

The Governor was pleased to meet with the agents and provide them with information to pass on to prospective students and their families about our world-class learning and research institutions and unique Perth lifestyle.

“During my term as Governor it is my vision that Government House is increasingly used as a facility to enhance the capacity to advance Western Australia’s interests.

 

I am therefore pleased to support organisations and activities which advance the objectives of those building the State’s future and StudyPerth is one of these.

 

Our international student numbers are not as high as we would like in comparison to the rest of the country. Involving ourselves in the welcome of both international students and agents is a first step in better showcasing Perth as an excellent place to study. Not only to realise a truly rewarding career but also to enjoy a remarkably clean, safe and breathtaking destination like no other. This will also serve to help to enrich Perth’s own cultural appreciation and enlightenment.”
