The Governor welcomes guests to the inaugural lecture event 30th October 2019 October 30, 2019 By Adele Hollywood The Governor and Ms Annus hosted the inaugural Governor’s Lecture with Telethon Kids Institute in the Government House Ballroom. Health industry guests listened to guest lecturer Professor C Doherty AC – Nobel Laureate, immunologist and author – discuss, “The Killer Defence: Viruses and Other Challenges”. Background Since 2015, Telethon Kids Institute have presented lectures bringing the very best researchers from around the world to Perth, for the benefit of supporters, community leaders, and our State’s own researchers. The Governor and Ms Annus were pleased this year to agree to Telethon Kids Institute’s request to rename the lecture series to The Governor’s Lecture and to host the event in the Government House Ballroom. “Supporting and advocating for health research in Western Australia” and making Government House, its facilities and beautiful grounds available to the public and to organisations and charities to advance the objectives of those looking after our State’s future is part of the Governor’s priorities and mission.
