14th November 2019 • Met with Ambassador of Japan H.E. Reiichiro Takahashi

The Governor met with His Excellency Reiichiro Takahashi, Ambassador of Japan, on his first official visit to Western Australia.

His Excellency was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Masako Takahashi, Mr Ryoichi Arakawa, First Secretary, Embassy of Japan and Mr Toru Suzuki, the Consul-General of Japan in Perth.

His Excellency assumed his diplomatic post as Ambassador of Japan to Australia on 13 February 2019. Prior to his appointment, he was the Consul-General of Japan in New York from 2015 to 2018.

Western Australia accounts for 35 per cent of Australia’s total trade with Japan, and there is significant Japanese investment in agricultural processing, plantation and tourism projects in the State. (Source: Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation)
