15th November 2019 • Art session for Prepare Produce Provide participants

The Governor and Ms Annus hosted an art session in the Government House Grounds for participants of Prepare, Produce, Provide’s 2019 Kinjarling Djinda Ngardak culinary program.

The art session kicked off this year’s program, bringing students, chefs, and teachers together before they start their week long culinary camp.

The art session brought all language groups across WA to share symbols from their regions and was facilitated by a Noongar Elder.

2019 Kinjarling Djinda Ngardak culinary program

  • Prepare Produce Provide’s innovative Kinjarling Djinda Ngardak (KDN Program) provides opportunities for Aboriginal young people in the areas of hospitality, the arts, agriculture and Indigenous tourism.
  • Kinjarling Djinda Ngardak – means “Albany Comes Alive Under the Stars” in Noongar language.
  • The 2019 program sees Indigenous students from across WA travel to Albany to participate in a week-long culinary camp where students participate in culinary masterclasses lead by renowned chefs including – Indigenous chef Reece Lardi, Paul lskov (Owner and chef of Fervor), Rohan Parks (Fervor), Melissa Palinkas (Owner and chef of Young George) and Anna Gare (Media personality and cookbook author).
  • The program starts with the art session at Government House on Friday, 15th November, finishing with a gala dinner in Albany, featuring locally sourced Great Southern produce with dishes that reflect the regions represented by attending students.
