Governor’s Christmas Message 2019 December 20, 2019 By Adele Hollywood Susie and I wish all our fellow West Australians the very best for a peaceful, restful and happy Christmas. We hope this leads into a fruitful, joyous, fulfilling and safe New Year. There are many people in all our thoughts. The families and loved ones of those lost to the volcano eruption on White Island in New Zealand. The many who are suffering with the dangerous bushfires in the East, and in our own backyard here as Australia battles an unprecedented heatwave. We are grateful for our first responders and emergency services personnel who stand guard year round. Particularly as the bushfire season intensifies, the work of our local career firefighting crews, volunteer services and the comprehensive warnings and advice issued by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services keep us reassured. Then we think of our service personnel at home and abroad. We are thankful for the service of all those, paid and volunteer, who defend our community. Our special thoughts are with them and their families. For most of us, this is a time when we strengthen the love and bonds between us and count our good fortune in our membership of this lovely community.
