The Governor along with Ms Christine Allen – Chief Executive Officer, Council on the Ageing (WA), presented the 2020 Council on the Ageing (WA) Seniors Awards to recognise West Australian seniors that strive for the betterment of our society, often leading volunteering efforts of essential services and helping to make Western Australia age-friendly, vibrant and safe.

The Governor welcoming members from the Council on the Ageing (WA)
“It is a unique privilege that we are able to meet here at Government House, given the current health challenges across the country and throughout the globe.
The reality of an ageing globe brings to the forefront of our minds and policy considerations, the requirements of age friendly communities, and the value of seniors to society.
When we look at Western Australia’s 2020 Seniors Awards recipients, we gain an even greater appreciation of the contributions of our seniors, and also of others in striving to foster an age friendly society.
Congratulations to all of today’s recipients and thank you for your invaluable contributions to our community. Each of you is an example of why I am proud to be a Patron of COTA (WA).”
