The lunch provided an opportunity for the four recipients and their guests to meet, prior to their departure to Canberra tomorrow (22nd January) for the National Australian of the Year Awards, announced on Australia Day eve. On 8 November 2019, four WA Australian of the Year recipients were announced: Annie Fogarty (Australian of the Year) Prof John Newnham (Senior Australian of the Year) Yarlalu Thomas (Young Australian of the Year) Suzy Urbaniak (Local Hero) Read about each recipient’s achievements (external link) 2020 Australian of the Year (WA) Awards The 2020 Australian of the Year Awards for Western Australia are the State/Territory level of the Australian of the Year Awards. Here State and Territory selection committees select four nominees for each Award category, with one of these nominees being announced as the State/Territory Award recipient.
