The Governor with the Very Reverend Christopher Chataway, Archbishop of Perth Kay Goldsworthy AO, Senior Clerical Canons and Senior Lay Canons. 1st February 2020 • Installation of the Dean of St George’s Cathedral February 1, 2020 By Adele Hollywood The Governor attended the installation service for the Dean-elect of St George’s Cathedral in Perth. The Governor made a short address to welcome the Very Reverend Chris Chataway to Perth during the service. Dean Chataway is a highly respected member of the Australian clergy, having served both as an Archdeacon in Adelaide and then Dean of Ballarat. He is deeply familiar with the national church and the issues faced by contemporary Australian Anglicans. He is also a skilled musician and composer, with a deep grounding in liturgical music. St George’s is the principal cathedral of the Anglican Province of Western Australia and the metro political Diocese of Perth. It was consecrated in 1888.
