The Western Australian War Widows Guild attended the Governor’s ‘Women’s Focussed Patronage Reception’ in August. Established in 1945, the Guild supports and advocates for all war widows from all conflicts.

International Women’s Day – Sunday, 8th March 2020

International Women’s Day (IWD) will be marked this Sunday, 8th March. The global awareness day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

The Governor looks forward to hosting and attending events this week which celebrate these achievements and the mission of International Women’s Day – to advance women’s rights and achieve gender equality.

The Governor’s women’s focussed patronage organisations

In August 2019, the Governor hosted a reception for a number of his patronage organisations whose activities advance women’s interests in WA, or deal with issues confronted by women, their families and the broader community.

The Governor used the opportunity to say thank you on behalf of the State for the work each member carries out as volunteers and employees of these organisations.

Each of the organisations represent the important provision of a range of services which support, develop and improve outcomes for women:
