Spotlight on Governor’s Patronage – Foodbank WA’s ‘Donation Drive-Thru’ events collect 18 tonnes of product from Perth community March 29, 2020 By Adele Hollywood Foodbank WA shelves have been stripped bare as demand for emergency food assistance soars during this prevailing public health situation. To help support the most vulnerable members of our community, Foodbank WA held two ‘Donation Drive-Thru’ events over the last two weekends in March and have experienced, “an overwhelming outpouring of community support…”. Speaking at the close of the Drive-Thru event on Saturday 29th March, Foodbank WA CEO Mr Greg Hebble said, “If you combine the two Saturdays together we have raised, or collected, close to 18 tonnes of product and that’s equivalent to 32, 000 meals, and that was from just under 900 cars in the last two weeks. So to all of you out there, it’s a great example of helping community and from all the staff and volunteers we can’t thank you enough for your contribution.” About Foodbank WA Foodbank Western Australia is the State’s largest relief organisation, operating on a scale that makes it crucial to the work of the front line charities who are feeding vulnerable Australians.
