Spotlight on Governor’s Patronage – How Ngala are supporting parents through COVID-19

The Governor is committed to supporting Western Australian organisations who are helping in the fight against the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.

The Governor is proud to be Patron of Ngala which operates early childhood education and care, parent education and youth services across Western Australia.

To help parents during this difficult time, Ngala have created a COVID-19 portal on their website to provide news and resources to West Australian families.

Virtual parenting programs are one of the services available on the portal. Provided by Ngala, they are funded by the State Government through the Child and Adolescent Health Service. In a time where normal group parenting sessions are not possible, the virtual sessions allow Ngala Child Health Nurses to connect with parents and offer them vital support with their child’s development.

The portal also features free downloadable resources for parents with children aged from 0 to 18 years, and a range of links to community support and information.

The Governor’s priorities

Supporting and advocating for health research in Western Australia is one of the Governor’s priorities.

In August 2019, the Governor and Ms Annus were pleased to host representatives from Ngala at a reception for patronage organisations whose activities advance women’s interests in WA, or deal with issues confronted by women, their families and the broader community. Read more
