Meeting with Professor Steve Chapman, Vice Chancellor Edith Cowan University May 18, 2020 By Adele Hollywood The Governor met with Professor Steve Chapman, Vice Chancellor at Edith Cowan University. “In this meeting with Professor Steve Chapman I was particularly interested in the financial situation and forward plans of his university in this challenging time. Pretty good news on all fronts. He was confident in the university’s capacity to shift WAAPA to a central city campus with some government assistance – good potential employment news. He also felt the university was holding the line financially but foreign student visas were important. The university has been sustaining literally hundreds of foreign students whose support base has fallen on hard times. Basic decency as we are responsible for other people’s children when we host them. The universities are doing it tough but they have all shown rapid movement to sustain themselves without being allowed recourse to measures such as JobKeeper. Universities are fundamental to the nation’s skills and in research to competitive product and technology.” Governor Post navigation Discussion with Mr James Brown, Chair, Kimberley Development CommissionPresided over a meeting of the Executive Council View all Articles
