Classical and jazz music concerts performed at Government House available for streaming

Good news for those missing the Music on the Terrace concert series, hosted by the Government House Foundation at Government House.

A series of concerts by outstanding Perth musicians has been recorded live in the Government House Ballroom and will feature within the program of a new world-class streaming platform developed in Melbourne.

Melbourne Digital Concert Hall has been created by musicians, for musicians and provides a modern stage for artists to continue to perform during the COVID-19 pandemic. Artistic Director of Music on the Terrace series Fiona Campbell, has curated a program of intimate, live performances by Perth’s most respected musicians, including talent such as clarinettist Ashley Smith, tenor Paul O’Neill and jazz diva Ali Bodycoat. The series within the program is entitled Satellite Nights – Perth and includes three bespoke concerts of classical music, opera and jazz.

The Melbourne Digital Concert Hall platform supports musicians who would otherwise be out of work. All money from the tickets goes directly to the musicians.

The Government House Foundation and Government House are pleased to support this initiative for the arts community during the COVID-19 pandemic and hope the success of these concerts will enable more opportunities for our incredible local talent to continue performing and grow their audience during this period.

The schedule for Perth’s first three dazzling concerts is outlined below:

1: Gladys Chua and Ashley Smith in Recital

Wednesday 13th May at 5pm (WST)

The operatic repertoire would lend some of its greatest instrumental solos to the most lyrical instrument of them all – the clarinet. In this recital, Gladys Chua and Ashley Smith take the clarinet out of the orchestra pit and place it centre stage in an emotionally-charged selection of arias and virtuosic fantasias from the operas of Mozart, Rossini, Weber, Puccini and Verdi.

2: Opera and Song: The Human Experience

Wednesday 13th May at 6.30pm (WST)

Join Internationally renowned Australian Tenor Paul O’Neill, stunning Soprano Naomi Johns and acclaimed accompanist Tommaso Pollio performing a wonderful array of thrilling operatic arias and popular songs.

3: Ali Bodycoat

Wednesday 20th May at 8pm (WST)

Ali Bodycoat and Adrian Galante arrive in a mutual admiration society from the gloriously aligned Perth Jazz scene.

With a bilateral bond for the greatest songs ever – sung by Barbra Streisand, Judy Garland or even Frank Sinatra, take an hour out, buckle up and try saying no to this trip where Bodycoat Gets Galant(e).
