Governor congratulates 69 West Australians recognised in Queen’s Birthday 2020 Honours List

The Governor congratulates all 69 Western Australians recognised today in the Queen’s Birthday 2020 Honours List for their exceptional service and achievement in our community,

“Congratulations to our great contributing West Australians who have been honoured today. In these troubled times, community contributions are even more needed and valued.

As you read through our list you can identify where each recipient comes from is an area where performance is much needed now.”

Governor

The Governor will formally invest Western Australian recipients with the insignia of their appointments and awards at small Investiture Ceremonies to be held throughout the year.

Overall, 933 awards were announced in the Queen’s Birthday 2020 Honours List today by the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd).

Western Australian recipients

69 Western Australians were recognised across the following categories:

• Officer of the Order of Australia (AO), for distinguished service of a high degree to Australia or to humanity at large: 4
• Member of the Order of Australia (AM), for service in a particular locality or field of activity or to a particular group: 20
• Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM), awarded for service worthy of particular recognition: 28
• Military: 5
• Meritorious: 12

Among those West Australians recognised were:

• Mr Colin Beckett, former Chancellor Curtin University. For distinguished service to business in the energy, gas and oil production and infrastructure sectors, and to tertiary education.
• Ms Denise Goldsworthy, Independent Director Western Power and WA Chem Centre Chair. For distinguished service to business, particularly to technological innovation and research in the mining and manufacturing sectors.
• Mr Ron Manners, Managing Director of Mannwest Group. For distinguished service to business, particularly to technological innovation and research in the mining and manufacturing sectors.
• Professor Bryant Stokes AM RFD, Neurosurgeon and Former Acting Director General of the Department of Health WA. For distinguished service to public health care governance and standards in Western Australia through leadership and advisory roles.
• Ms Kate Lamont, founder Lamont’s. For significant service to the tourism and hospitality sectors in Western Australia.
• Ms Donna Shepherd, Perth-based Chair of World Vision International. For significant service to children through international humanitarian aid organisations.
• Professor Cheryl Kickett-Tucker, Curtin University and Telethon Kids Institute Research Fellow. For significant service to tertiary education, and to the Indigenous community
• Ms Rhonda Marriott, Academic, Murdoch University. For significant service to tertiary education, to Indigenous health, and to nursing.
