Governor meets with local community members and business owners in Chittering

The Governor conducted his tenth regional visit with a day trip to Chittering on Friday, 5th June 2020.

Chittering is just one hour’s drive from Perth, approximately 70 km NNE of Perth. During the visit, the Governor met with community representatives at Bindoon Bakehaus, Tiny Cabins, Nesci Estate Wines and Golden Grove Orchard.

The Governor is keen to showcase local tourism opportunities to support our State’s social and economic recovery in a post-COVID era,

“We need to support our potential tourist hot spots and I need to draw attention to them. Within easy reach of Perth there are a multitude of them.

Spent most of Friday in Chittering – many thanks to Cr Don Gibson, President; Matthew Gilfellon, CEO and Euan Martin, Economic Development Coordinator from the Shire of Chittering.

Visited Bindoon Bakehaus, Tiny Cabins on the Chittering Acres Farm, Nesci Estate Wines and Golden Grive Orchard. They were a joy. Lots to do and to eat for visiting families and very easy to access with the extension of the Tonkin Highway.”

The trip was conducted with the Shire of Chittering to showcase the area’s industry, tourism and cultural features.

About Chittering

Excerpt from Visit Chittering website:

“The Chittering Valley is nestled in the northern hills of the Darling Range within the beautiful Avon Valley region. With its untouched bushland and wetlands, vineyards, orchards, spectacular wildflowers and views, the area is a perfect day trip or short-break destination – stay overnight at a bed and breakfast, chalet or farmstay. The Valley forms a picturesque gateway into Western Australia’s Wheatbelt region where you can immerse yourself in the rural lifestyle and Discover Golden Horizons.”
