The Governor and Foodbank WA CEO Mr Greg Hebble pack COVID-19 Emergency Relief Hampers Visit to Foodbank for Winter Appeal 2020 Launch June 5, 2020 By Adele Hollywood As Patron of Foodbank WA, the Governor visited the warehouse at Perth Airport to help CEO Mr Greg Hubble launch the 2020 Winter Appeal, and to see how the organisation had transformed its operations to meet the challenge of COVID-19. While at the warehouse, the Governor, in partnership with Mr Greg Brindle from The Good Grocer and with Agostino Wholesalers, made a donation of essential food items for West Australians in need. The Governor also helped volunteers to pack COVID-19 Emergency Food Relief Hampers for distribution to targeted communities in metro, regional and remote Western Australia. CEO Mr Greg Hebble said, “We’ve completely transformed our warehouse and have daily teams of 30-40 volunteers packing hampers, it’s a mass production line to create the relief hampers, packing almost 5,000 a week.” “The COVID-19 Emergency Food Relief hampers are filled with shelf stable food products for easy transportation, storage and nutritional consumption, which will better meet the rapidly rising need for food across metro, regional and remote communities.” The Governor congratulated the Foodbank team for meeting the challenge of COVID-19 and stepping up their operations to help the community more than ever before. It’s important that we continue to support Foodbank and their emergency food relief efforts in these uncertain times. Visit Foodbank’s website for more information.
