The Governor welcomes leaders from the Edmund Rice Centre WA

The Governor hosted a small afternoon tea to meet with leaders from the Edmund Rice Centre WA to discuss the Centre’s Developing Community Leaders Initiative.

The Edmund Rice Centre WA has a proud history and an on-going commitment to assisting people from refugee and migrant backgrounds, as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The Developing Community Leaders Initiative, coordinated by the Edmund Rice Centre WA and supported by the WA Police Force, develops young people, predominantly from CaLD and other disadvantaged backgrounds, into strong community leaders with an active presence within their own communities and the wider Australian community, expanding their involvement in social, civic and economic life. The program provides structured training, employment, education and professional development opportunities to help young people take the lead in initiating and contributing to community programs and initiatives.
