Each year, the festival moves from one of the six Noongar seasons to the next, with the theme for the following year being set by that season. Last year’s festival took place in the season of Makuru, which had the theme of ‘fertility’ and conversations; this is the theme for all of this year until the festival in August, which takes place in the season of Djilba – the season of ‘incubation’.
