Investiture Ceremony for 2020 Australian Police Medal Recipients in the Australia Day Honours

An important part of the Governor’s role is the recognition of significant service and outstanding contribution to the Western Australian community.

On Thursday 6th August, the Governor formally invested four Western Australian recipients of the Australian Police Medal for the 2020 Australia Day Honours in a ceremony at Government House.

About Investiture Ceremonies

The names of recipients are announced by the Governor General on Australia Day, 26 January and on The Queen’s official birthday, usually the second Monday in June.

The Governor conducts Investiture Ceremonies in the Government House Ballroom twice annually, usually in April and September to formally invest Western Australian recipients with their national honours and awards.

About the Australian Police Medal

The Australian Police Medal is awarded for distinguished service by a member of the Australian Police Force.

The Australian Police Medal was established on 3 March 1986 by Letters Patent. The Governor-General awards the Australian Police Medal on the recommendation of the responsible Commonwealth, State and Territory Ministers.

Each Australian Police Force may award one Australian Police Medal for every 1000 members, or pat of 1000 members, in each calendar year.
