Governor visits Containers for Change $wan at Yagan Square September 18, 2020 By Adele Hollywood Containers for Change is WA’s new container deposit scheme which will launch on 1st October 2020 with 200 refund points to be opened across the State. On Friday, the Governor visited the 5.5 metre ‘Containers for Change $wan’ at Yagan Square. The swan has been made out of 10, 000 drink containers – the same amount of containers used every four minutes in Western Australia. The public awareness campaign encourages the community to find out where they will be able to take their eligible containers from October 1. Locations, opening hours and all the details about Western Australia’s 200 refund points are now available at http://www.containersforchange.com.au The Governor is Patron of two refund point operators – Scouts WA and Men’s Shed WA. Western Australia Return Recycle Renew (WARRRL) is the not-for-profit organisation created to establish and run the Containers for Change scheme in Western Australia.
