The Governor and Ms Annus attended the 30th Anniversary of the Telethon Kids Institute dinner

This year marks the 30th Birthday of the Telethon Kids Institute. As part of this anniversary, the organisation held a 30th Birthday Dinner in the Ballroom, attended by major supporters and sponsors and the Governor and Ms Annus.

Glenn Pearson – Head of Aboriginal Research, leads the Kulunga Aboriginal Research Development Unit (KARDU), and is a member of the Institute Leadership Team at the Telethon Kids Institute – delivered the Acknowledgement of Country.

Hon Julie Bishop; Chair, Telethon Kids Institute was the Master of Ceremonies and delivered introductory remarks and reflections from a Board perspective.

Professor Jonathan Carapetis; Director, Telethon Kids Institute – provided the 2020 Briefing, including the Institute’s COVID response and related research as well as other research and initiatives.

The Telethon Kids Institute is based within the Perth Children’s Hospital, and is one of the largest, and most successful medical research institutes in Australia, comprising a dedicated and diverse team of more than 700 staff and students.

They have created a bold blueprint that brings together community, researchers, practitioners, policy makers and funders, who share our vision to improve the health and development of children through excellence in research, and the application of that knowledge.

The Institute is headed by leading paediatrician and infectious diseases expert Professor Jonathan Carapetis, with Founding Director Professor Fiona Stanley now Patron.

Telethon Kids is independent and not-for-profit organisation. The majority of funding comes from their success in winning national and international competitive research grants. Telethon Kids Institute receive significant philanthropic support from corporate Australia and the community, most notably through their Principal Partner, Telethon.
