Call with Neometals

The Governor received a call from Neometals Managing Director and CEO – Chris Reed, General Manager – Commercial & Investor Relations – Jeremy McManus and Chief Operating Officer – Mike Tamlin to discuss developing opportunities in minerals and advanced materials essential for a sustainable future.

Perth-based company, Neometals is firming as a critical WA-based player in the circular economy – that is, the recovery of critical minerals such as cobalt and nickel from technologies like spent lithium batteries for reuse at a higher purity than some other mined resources. Circular economics underpins the fourth industrial age and is complementary to strict new environmental regulations being rapidly adopted around the world.

The Governor learned that Neometals are set to build a demonstration lithium-ion battery recycling plant in Germany in the hope of attracting investment in green energy technology.

Neometals has three core projects at advanced stages of evaluation:

1. Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling Project;
2. Lithium Refinery Project; and
3. Barrambie Titanium and Vanadium Project (WA).

and exploration and long-term projects include:

1. Mt Edwards lithium and nickel exploration project (WA); and
2. Suite of mineral/material related technology developments.
