The Governor speaking with students from the Engineering Aid Australia Government House hosts Engineering Aid Australia October 1, 2020 By Adele Hollywood “One of the reasons why I am so delighted to be hosting this event is that Engineering Aid Australia (EAA) was a tremendous commitment of my old boss, the late Bob Hawke AC. Bob was delighted and proud to be engaged with EAA as he thought that, in terms of building competence in the community broadly and opportunity in particular for Aboriginal Australians, you could do no better than establish a linkage effectively between those opportunities, the encouragement of aptitudes for maths and science and a nation building professional like engineering.” Governor The Governor hosted the Indigenous students, university academics, Engineering Aid Australia (EAA)’s Board Directors and representatives from EAA’s partnering engineering and resources companies in the Government House Ballroom. Indigenous students, university academics, Engineering Aid Australia (EAA)’s Board Directors and representatives from EAA Since its inception in 1966 EAA has inspired and supported Indigenous High School students with an aptitude for maths and science to complete High School, go onto study engineering at university and become a professional engineer. EAA introduced a second Indigenous Australia Engineering School in Perth in 2012. The school has been hosted by Curtin University each year since 2010 and in 2019 celebrated ten years of introducing young Indigenous students to university life and the benefits of a career as a profession engineer.
