The Governor congratulating the 2020 Governor’s School STEM Award winners 2020 Governor’s School STEM Awards November 24, 2020 By Adele Hollywood The Governor hosted the 2020 Governor’s School STEM Awards in the Government House Ballroom. These awards recognise and celebrate Western Australian Schools that demonstrate excellence in leadership, advocacy, engagement and achievements in STEM education and are delivered by the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation working in partnership with Scitech. “Congratulations to all finalists. Each of you can be proud that you and your schools have been judged to be doing some of the best work in Western Australia in STEM. A lot of the jobs our kids will have in the future don’t even exist yet. The world is evolving at such a rapid rate as innovation and new technologies continuously change the way we live and work. The problem-solving, critical thinking and digital skills that come from studying STEM are relevant to all future jobs. We’re here to recognise schools that are leading the way in building STEM culture in Western Australia. I particularly want to congratulate all school representatives here today for your efforts. You have all set important examples of what success looks like in STEM education.” The Governor The Governor congratulating the 2020 Governor’s School STEM Award winners 2020 winners Brookman Primary School in the Perth suburb of Langford, was today inducted into the Hall of Fame after winning the primary schools category of the Governor’s School STEM Awards for the third year in a row. Ashdale Secondary College took out the top prize in the secondary schools category for exhibiting strong STEM culture among educators, students and leadership teams across all learning areas. Meritorious Leadership Awards went to Sacred Heart Primary School, Cecil Andrews College and Hampton Senior High School.
