The Governor welcomed guests to Government House as Patron of WA Parks Foundation Reception for WA Parks Foundation supporters November 25, 2020 By Adele Hollywood The Governor and Ms Annus hosted a reception for the WA Parks Foundation to acknowledge and thank the Foundation’s corporate partners, ambassadors, volunteers and to highlight their achievements. “The WA Parks Foundation can be justifiably proud of what has been achieved in just four years. There are a number of companies, organisations and supporters who have provided invaluable support to the Foundation since its formation. The Foundation also has 43 Parks Ambassadors whose support is also important. I particularly acknowledge the work of the Fundraising Committee chaired by John Langoulant. I commend the Foundation for their achievements and thank everyone for their support in helping bring the Foundation’s projects to life. I am particularly appreciative of the Foundation’s most recent Spring into Parks campaign which has responded to the mental and physical challenges amid the coronavirus pandemic by emphasising the health benefits of spending time in nature.” The Governor Former Governor the Honourable Kerry Sanderson AC is Chair of the WA Parks Foundation, an initiative she set up during her term as Governor The Governor speaks with Dr Richard Walley OAM Guests mingle after formalities Guests mingle after formalities WA Parks Foundation is the official charity partner of Western Australia’s national parks, State forests, conservation, nature and marine reserves. Founded in October 2016 by former Governor the Honourable Kerry Sanderson AC, the WA Parks Foundation’s mission is to ensure West Australian parks are conserved, understood and cared for. Their capacity for conservation and connecting more people to parks depends on the generous support of corporate partners, volunteers and the community. By connecting people to nature, the hope is to improve wellbeing, environmental outcomes and preserve WA’s unique landscape for future generations.
