The Governor is proud to be patron the Keep Australia Beautiful Council.

“As Patron of the Keep Australia Beautiful Council, it is a pleasure to be here today, to open the Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities State Awards. These Awards help focus attention on the many community members around Western Australia who have undertaken projects nominated for the Keep Australia Beautiful Council’s annual Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities awards.

Tidy Towns acknowledges regional communities who foster sustainable behaviours and sustaining your community’s vibrancy is greatly enhanced by mentoring youth, engaging with schools and including all levels of communities’ organisations.

Entrants in the Awards represent the diverse spread of communities in Western Australia. Small communities of up to 50 people are represented here, such as Pia Wadjari and Jarlmadangah Burru, and large regional cities, like Kalgoorlie-Boulder, and Port and South Hedland all demonstrate that community engagement, volunteering, leadership and the overarching desire to have a beautiful, empowered and sustainable community are foremost.

I once again congratulate every community involved in 2020 for your hard work, motivation, and commitment. You are making sustainable living choices and keeping regional communities thriving.”

The Governor
