Governor hosts celebration for Mello House and Perth Festival

The Governor and Ms Annus were proud to host a reception to recognise the efforts of Mello House, Government House and the Perth Festival to the arts and cultural sector.

This was a celebration referred to as ‘Between Two Houses’ which represented the collaboration and dedication of Government House and Mello House to the arts and our cultural and civic communities. This extends to, and embraces, the diversity and inclusiveness of our incredible Perth Festival and their 2021 program.

This relationship can be directed especially to the partnership with Perth Festival’s Performing Lines for the upcoming productions of Children of the Sea and Black Brass.

Guests were treated to a sneak peek of these upcoming performances of Festival Lab alumni – Jay Emmanuel and Mararo Wangai – who are telling important stories from afar and close to home.

“The 2021 Perth Festival serves as a beacon, assisting the social and economic recovery of Western Australia and boosting community confidence after the challenges of 2020.

My wife Susie and I feel privileged to contribute in our own small way by, through the Government House Foundation, having the Government House gardens and Ballroom used as a location for Koort (Heart) – A performance by Gina Williams & Guy Ghouse, the Jazz Line – A journey through jazz history. An experience curated by Mello House’s very own Ali Bodycoat and Mace Francis and the Little Mermaid by Freeze Frame Opera.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Perth Festival so far. Enhancing support for the Festival, and its future growth and artistic endeavours is something we can all get involved in – even if it is just through participation.”
