Ashlyn Timms and Raymond Yong performing ‘Heart of a Gypsy’ Restart the Arts – Heart of a Gypsy December 7, 2020 By Adele Hollywood Heart of a Gypsy was presented as part of the Restart the Arts with Government House initiative. The elegant tones of Mezzo Soprano Ashlyn Tymms graced the Government House Ballroom on Sunday 6 December 2020. Along with pianist Raymond Yong, the ‘Heart of a Gypsy’ took the audience on a musical journey from the spirited Spanish folk songs of Manuel de Falla Siete canciones populares españolas to Debussy’s Moonlight magic. The Governor and Ms Annus were thrilled to be able to attend the concert. “What a delight opera artist – Ashley Timms and Pianist – Raymond Yong were. Ashley’s superb voice dazzled the audience. As did Raymond with his touch on the piano. It made us realise how much COVID-19 has deprived the world of great art but how fortunate we are to enjoy it.” The Governor The Governor is proud to be patron of WA Opera.
