Supporting WA cricket and the Perth Scorchers January 12, 2021 By Carole Kerr As proud Patron of the WACA, the Governor enjoyed an evening of cricket cheering on the Perth Scorchers in their hometown victory over the Hobart Hurricanes at Optus Stadium. The evening also provided an opportunity for the Governor to hear from WACA Chair Tuck Waldron and CEO Christina Matthews on many of the cricket and community initiatives they have planned for this year across Western Australia. Also in attendance at the special event were The Hon. Dr Ken Michael and The Hon. Kerry Sanderson. Dr Michael was WA’s 30th Governor from 2006 to 2011. Mrs Sanderson was WA’s 32nd Governor who held the position from 2014 to 2018. The Governor joined more than 23,600 other WA fans at the game, the final home fixture for the WA team in the current regular Big Bash League season.
