Australia Day Honours Investitures continue at Government House

The Australia Day Honours Investiture Ceremonies recognising extraordinary Western Australians continued in the Government House Ballroom this morning.

At the intimate 10am Ceremony, nine recipients were invested with a range of awards including the Conspicous Service Cross, Conspicuous Service Medal, Order of Australia – General Division, and a Commendation for Bravery. The recipients were recognised for excellence in the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army, service to the community and bravery.

Today’s 2pm Investiture Ceremony saw 20 recipients receive Meritorious Awards recognising outstanding and distinguished service by public servants, members of an Australian police force, fire, ambulance, corrections, intelligence or emergency services.

The Governor today congratulated each recipient and thanked them for their tremendous contribution and efforts.

“Each of you here today is an invaluable example of the extraordinary work being done across our nation, for the betterment of our communities,” said the Governor.

“I thank each and every one of you for the extraordinary contribution you make to Western Australia and our country more broadly.”

Today’s ceremonies began with a Welcome To Country by Emeritus Professor Colleen Hayward AM and the singing of the Australian National Anthem by Ms Simone Craddock. Brass and string ensembles from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts also performed.

All four ceremonies at Government House are being live streamed and will be available for viewing through our website post-event.
