The Governor today met with co-founders of ‘ Frogponds’ – an initiative aimed at helping introduce essential supplies to schools through a competitive and affordable platform.

Alison Welsh and Jodie Rybicki established Frogponds – a technology start-up business located in Victoria Park – two years ago as an online procurement program for Education, Government and Business. They are now expanding into the not-for-profit sector and today provided the Governor with an update on their plans.

A signature 40 years in the making

Forty years after he presented then primary-school student Maria Fizzano with a dictionary as a school prize, the Governor today fulfilled her wish to have it signed by him.

Maria was a student at St Columba’s Primary School in South Perth in 1981 when the Governor – who was then the Member for Swan – presented her with the Collins Pocket Dictionary as a prize for Most Improved Student.

Maria has been holding onto the dictionary ever since and was thrilled today to pay a visit to the Governor so he could finally sign it.
