The Governor and Ms Annus host a dinner in honour of Professor Helen Milroy (centre), keynote speaker at the Telethon Kids Institute Governor’s Lecture Series Telethon Kids Institute Governor’s Lecture Series Dinner, meeting with the Australian Marine Conversation Society, and helping out on a PhD March 15, 2021 By Carole Kerr The Governor and Ms Annus hosted a dinner at Government House in honour of this year’s Keynote Speaker at the Telethon Kids Institute Governor’s Lecture Series, Professor Helen Milroy. Professor Milroy will deliver the Governor’s Lecture “Born into Stories: Giving every child the opportunity to achieve their potential” at the event being held in the Government House Ballroom tomorrow night. Professor Milroy is a pioneering Aboriginal psychiatrist, researcher and mental health champion and is also the 2021 WA Australian of the Year. Australia’s first Indigenous doctor, she is also an Honorary Research Fellow and Co-Director of [email protected] Kids, as well as being Stan Perron Chair of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Perth Children’s Hospital and UWA. An Update on Ningaloo Reef The Governor today met with Australian Marine Conservation Society Patron Tim Winton, along with Protect Ningaloo Director Paul Gamblin and Project Manager Serena Fletcher. Took part in an interview for a PhD The Governor took time to chat by phone today with Ms Emily Foley, a PhD candidate in politics at La Trobe University. Emily’s PhD project focuses on the Australian Labor Party and migration in the 21st Century and she was keen to chat to the Governor to get his reflections on the topic from his time as ALP leader in 2005-06.
