Welcoming Four Ambassadors to Government House, and Presiding over Executive Council

The Governor and Ms Annus today hosted a visit by the Ambassador of Japan to Australia, His Excellency Mr Shingo Yamagami.

The Ambassador was joined by his wife Mrs Kaoru Yamagami, Consul-General Mr Toru Suzuki, Consul-General of Japan in Perth, and other special guests.

His Excellency commenced his diplomatic post as Ambassador of Japan to Australia in November last year, with today’s meeting and lunch at Government House marking the first official visit by Ambassador Yamagami to Western Australia.

A Meeting with Ambassadors from the European Union, Netherlands and Croatia

Earlier in the day the Governor met with the European Union Ambassador to Australia, His Excellency Mr Michael Pulch, the Netherlands Ambassador to Australia, Her Excellency Ms Marion Derckx and the Croatian Ambassador to Australia, Her Excellency Ms Betty Bernardica Pavelich.

The trio are on a visit to Western Australia from Canberra.

A Meeting of the Executive Council

The Governor presided over Executive Council this morning, the first since the new WA Mark McGowan-led Ministry was sworn in last week.

It was straight back to business with Ministers Dave Kelly MP and Rita Saffioti MLA.

The Governor also received Clerk of the Executive Council, Ms Megan Inglis.

Presiding over Executive Council is one of the key constitutional functions of the role of Governor.
