French Ambassador and Consul General visit the Governor
French Ambassador HE Jean-Pierre Thebault and Mdm Anne Boillon visit Perth.

Bonjour France, Friends of Anglicare launch, music at lunchtime and some TV interviews

Bonjour! So pleased to welcome Ambassador of France, His Excellency Jean-Pierre Thebault to Perth and Government House for the first time this morning. His Excellency was accompanied by General Consul for France (Sydney), Madam Anne Boillon. Thoroughly enjoyed meeting them both and the varied conversation we had about many things including COVID19 and the global response, the Australian and international economy and the recent tropical cyclone Seroja which decimated some of our mid-west region.

Government House then welcomed Anglicare WA for a morning tea to celebrate the launch of their Friends of Anglicare program. This program allows Anglicare to formally acknowledge and recognise individuals who have been vital to the organisation and its vision of creating a just and fair Western Australia where all people can thrive. I was honoured to spend time with these individuals who have so much passion and generosity of spirit to serve people less fortunate.

To celebrate #youthweekwa Government House is hosting a series of youth musicians in the grounds to perform free lunchtime concerts this week. What a treat the first performance was!

18 year old Nasman Donovan entertained us on the upper lawns with hits ranging from Sinatra’s Fly me to the Moon, through to Ed Sheeran and classics such as The Beatles’ Here Comes The Sun and Van Morrison’s Brown Eyed Girl.

The performances continue tomorrow and Thursday – check times and performances here.

Today also saw a couple of interviews recorded – one for ABC’s The Business program and another for the Australian Strategic Policy Institute. The ABC segment will air tomorrow evening at 6.45pm WST on ABC24.
