The Governor today hosted an undersea capabilities roundtable at Government House Hosted a roundtable on WA’s undersea capabilities April 28, 2021 By Carole Kerr WA’s undersea capabilities were on the Governor’s agenda today, convening a roundtable discussion with some key representatives in this area. A small group of industry and academic experts came together at Government House, meeting in line with COVID-restrictions currently in place in Perth. The forum was facilitated by UWA’s first Chair of Defence Studies and inaugural director of The UWA Defence and Security Institute, Professor Peter Dean and attended by representatives from various industries and universities actively involved in undersea capabilities and defence-related projects. Edith Cowan University’s Director, Defence Research and Engagement, Air Vice Marshall (ret’d) Dr Andrew Douse AO also addressed the gathering. “Given the great size of Australia’s territorial waters and offshore assets and the expertise in this area in WA, our state is well placed to apply its substantial skills and capabilities to this arena,” said the Governor. “It was a worthwhile discussion involving some of the best minds in WA in this space, and I thank all those who took part.” Post navigation Anzac Day 2021 commemorationMeeting with the incoming OECD Secretary-General and welcomed Plein Air Painters to Government House Gardens View all Articles
