The Governor and Ms Annus welcomed West Australian Society of the Arts Plein Air Painters to Government House Gardens Meeting with the incoming OECD Secretary-General and welcomed Plein Air Painters to Government House Gardens April 29, 2021 By Carole Kerr The Governor this morning caught up with incoming Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Secretary-General Mr Mathis Cormann at Government House. Mr Cormann, Australia’s former Minister for Finance, officially takes up the post on June 1 making him the first Secretary-General to come from the Asia Pacific region. He replaces Mr Angel Gurria who has led the OECD for 15 years. Welcoming Plein Air Painters to Government House Gardens The Governor and Ms Annus welcomed a small group of West Australian Society of the Arts (WASA) Plein Air Painters to the Gardens at Government House today. Thirty painters spread out around the 3.2 hectares of the Gardens capturing a variety of images, with many featuring Government House as a back drop. Plein Air painting comes from the French expression ‘en plein air’ which means ‘in the open air’.
