Thanks to Variety and the Brian Whately Foundation, the school has received $4889 towards the purchase of ten violins and two cellos for its Simply Strings Program, which aims to build life skills and confidence for their students through music.

The Governor and Ms Annus were instrumental in connecting today’s guests after sharing the vital work of the Challis music program with Mark Whately from the Brian Whately Foundation at a Variety WA auction dinner at Government House earlier this year.

The Governor first met the kids from Challis Community Primary School in mid-2020 and after chatting with Principal Lee Musumeci about their music program and the need for donations of instruments, he was inspired to help.

Through the generosity of the Government House Foundation eight cellos were initially donated to the school in October last year.

Today’s generous donation is the second for the school, with the Governor and Ms Annus pleased to host the grant presentation as well as a special thank you lunch.
