Official opening of ANU in Perth and celebratory dinner, Swearing-in of District Court Judge

The Governor and Ms Annus attended the official opening of the Perth office of the Australian National University.

The opening of ANU Perth provides a platform to spread the word about the University in Western Australia and to explore ways that ANU can play a greater role in the WA community.

ANU Chancellor The Hon Julie Bishop welcomed guests to the event before inviting the Governor to address attendees.

A former Chancellor of ANU from July 2008 until December 2009, Governor Beazley said it was a pleasure to welcome ANU, Australia’s only national university to Western Australia and said he was excited to think of the joint research initiatives and opportunities likely to eventuate from ANU having a permanent presence in the state.

Following the official opening the Governor and Ms Annus hosted a dinner for special guests at Government House to celebrate the growing presence of ANU in the state and its strengthening connection with the WA community.
