The Governor greets STEM Award winners from Melville SHS

Welcomed Melville SHS STEM Award winners to Government House for morning tea and a behind-the-scenes tour

The Governor today welcomed students from Melville Senior High School to Government House for a long-awaited celebration of their success in winning the 2019 Governor’s STEM Award.

The impact of COVID-related restrictions has meant the award couldn’t be celebrated until now, with students from across Year 7 to Year 12 attending a morning tea at Government House in their honour that was hosted by the Governor.

The award reflects excellence in STEM leadership with the students of Melville SHS recognised for their integrated approach, ensuring that STEM was also embedded in non-STEM subjects across the whole school.

The Governor congratulated the students on winning the 2019 STEM Award and for demonstrating outstanding leadership, skills and enthusiasm.

After the morning tea the students were treated to a behind-the-scenes tour which included an invitation by the Governor to his office and a longer tour to learn more about the history of Government House.
