2021 Governor’s School STEM Awards open now

The Governor’s STEM awards for 2021 are now open and the Governor is encouraging all schools from across Western Australia to apply.

The Awards support the Western Australian Government’s State STEM skills strategy by highlighting the importance of developing a whole-of-school STEM culture, where STEM learning is embraced by the school principal, leadership team and teachers with a resulting positive impact on students, parents and the community.

“Since the awards were started by my predecessor, the Honourable Kerry Sanderson AC, seven years ago, we have only seen the importance of STEM education grow.

“I hope to see a wide range of schools from around Western Australia enter this year’s awards, and look forward to celebrating their achievements at the awards presentation in November.”

This year, two awards will be presented in both the primary and secondary school categories:

  • Leadership Excellence Award – $2,000 prize
  • Meritorious Leadership Award – $1,000 prize.

Finalists will enjoy a Scitech visit or a DIY science kit with a term of science lessons.

Applications close at 10am on July 26, 2021. Finalists are expected to be announced in September and the awards presented in November 2021.
