The Governor, Ms Annus and guests are entertained by Perth Festival Artistic Director Iain Grandage Celebrating the success of the 2021 Perth Festival June 9, 2021 By Carole Kerr The Governor and Ms Annus hosted a small dinner at Government House to acknowledge and thank some of the key people involved in bringing the 2021 Perth Festival to fruition. The Festival, an iconic WA arts and culture event was a huge success despite major interruptions due to covid, with nearly 474,000 people attending over 111 events, including some held in the Government House Gardens. The Governor and Ms Annus welcomed Perth Festival Executive Director Nathan Bennett, Artistic Director Iain Grandage, Chair Tim Ungar and their partners to Government House as a way of saying thank you to them and their teams for the mammoth effort put in to keep the Festival on track. During the Festival the Governor and Ms Annus were pleased to offer Government House Gardens as a large outdoor concert venue with a number of sold out Festival events being held on site. Photo – Perth Festival event WA Mix Tape in the grounds of Government House A recent impact report on the benefits of the Perth Festival showed it provided a huge boost to the WA economy with $32 million direct impact spend by audiences and artists during the Festival and $90 million in flow-on impact across the broader economy.
