The Governor presides over Executive Council in the Red Room Executive Council, and a touch of GOLD June 15, 2021 By Adele Hollywood Our Red Room at Government House provided some warmth and colour for Executive Council on this wet and wintry day. Presiding over Executive Council is one of the key constitutional functions of the role of Governor. The meeting allows him to be briefed on the latest from the Legislative Assembly and carry out administrative requirements such as signing-off on bills passed by Parliament. Today’s Exco was a first for new Minister Reece Whitby MLA, who was joined by Rita Saffioti MLA. Clerk of Executive Council Nick Hagley was present, along with Brendan D’Sa who was sworn in as a Clerk of the Executive Council before the meeting began. As one of Western Australia’s largest exporters, Perth Mint distributes some $18 billion worth of pure gold, silver and platinum bullion bars and coins to investors in more than 100 countries annually. The Mint is also committed to sharing the fascinating story of Western Australian gold, and the State’s own rich history through its world-class Gold Exhibition. The Governor gets to hold a gold bullion worth $1million. Post navigation Official dinner for the WA Shadow MinistryMusic fills the halls of Government House View all Articles
