The Noongar season of Makuru is upon us Noongar Seasons at Government House – Welcome to Makuru June 2, 2021 By Carole Kerr The Noongar seasonal calendar showcases six different seasons in a yearly cycle, each one of them offering a fascinating insight into the changing flora, fauna and traditional lifestyle of the south west Aboriginal culture. Each new season Government House teams up with a Noongar representative so we can help share knowledge and better understanding of the seasons. In this new period of Makuru we are thrilled to have Des Headland Junior and his father Desmond Headland Senior take us through what we can expect in the months of June and July in the video below. Don’t forget the gardens at Government House are open to the public every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday between 12 noon and 2pm and visitors are invited to take a stroll around the beautiful heritage gardens, or sit back and enjoy a picnic lunch. Occasionally we may be unable to open the Gardens so if you are making a special trip, please check our website here for any changes.
