The Governor today toured Innovaero, a world-class aeronautical technology business Aeronautical industry visit and a NAIDOC Week special event July 8, 2021 By Carole Kerr Some of the State’s sovereign capabilities were on show today when the Governor toured Perth-based aeronautical technology company Innovaero. A 100% Australian-owned company Innovaero is an industry leader in aeronautical product development and manufacturing, working closely with Australia’s aviation industry as well as developing potential opportunities to expand into Australia’s defence space. As part of today’s tour the Governor was briefed on InnovaeroFOX, a Maritime Unmanned Aerial System that has been purpose-designed and built in response to the Royal Australian Navy’s call for a new generation of Intelligence Surveillance & Reconnaissance capabilities. “It is always deeply impressive to have a chance to look at the fact that we have in Western Australia people producing state-of-the-art, cutting-edge technologies that have both a substantial civilian and defence application,” said the Governor. “We have here a manufacturer of highly sophisticated drones that would be off enormous value to our defence forces, and a multiplicity of civilian capabilities as well. Thanks to Innovaero for a truly remarkable tour.” NAIDOC Week special event A wonderful NAIDOC week celebration at Government House today with Emeritus Professor Colleen Hayward AM a special guest speaker at an event for staff from the State Solicitor’s Office (SSO). Photo – Professor Colleen Hayward AM was guest speaker at a special NAIDOC Week event. The event, hosted by the Governor and Ms Annus, provided the opportunity for SSO staff to learn more about the significance of Government House and its Gardens to Aboriginal heritage and culture, as well as a chance to learn more about the significance of NAIDOC Week, the road to reconciliation and the importance of Heal Country! The Governor, the Governor’s Establishment and the State Solicitor’s Office work closely together on ceremonial matters including the swearing-in of Judiciary and other operational tasks so it was a pleasure today to welcome their team to Government House on such an important occasion.
