Celebrating WA’s aspiring young engineers

A chance to meet some of WA’s aspiring, young Indigenous engineers with a reception at Government House in support of Engineering Aid Australia’s Indigenous Australian Engineering School (IAES) program.

The Governor and Ms Annus welcomed 30 students from around WA to Government House as part of a jam-packed, week-long engineering school the students are attending through Curtin University.

The program offers support and guidance to Indigenous high schools students, who show an aptitude for maths and science to complete their studies and go on to pursue engineering at university before building a career in the industry.

The students have been spending the week meeting engineers, undertaking design work and other hands on activities, with the Government House reception a chance to meet and chat with supporters and mentors and to also say thanks to the private and government organisations who support the program.

The Governor congratulated the students on their hard work and wished them well as they work towards their career goals.

“I applaud IAES participants and alumni for demonstrating your commitment to enhancing your future employment opportunities, and the opportunities more generally through your participation in this program. As I look at each of you, I know that Western Australia’s future is in safe hands.” said the Governor
