The Governor and Ms Annus hosted an Urban Planning roundtable in partnership with the City of Perth

Hosted a roundtable discussion on Urban Planning

The second of two roundtables, in partnership with the City of Perth, was held at Government House today with the Governor and Ms Annus hosting a gathering of experts for a discussion around the city’s urban planning and infrastructure needs and opportunities.

The roundtable began with a welcome from the Governor and some words from Perth Lord Mayor, The Hon Basil Zempilas, outlining the City of Perth’s vision to continue to develop a centre that is liveable, sustainable and prosperous.

The event drew input and ideas from some of Perth’s leading planning and infrastructure specialists, City of Perth representatives and government decision-makers across a range of talking points centered around current and future opportunities for Perth City.

With Covid impacting both city accessibility and workforce numbers in the CBD, part of the discussion focused on how to maintain and manage infrastructure and development in a Covid and post-Covid environment.

” I was enormously pleased that the Lord Mayor reached out to us on behalf of the City of Perth to have a discussion around the vision they are developing for a sustainable, prosperous city,” said the Governor.

“Conducted under Chatham House Rules it meant that people spoke with total frankness, which I think produced some excellent suggestions for subsequent thought by the city council.”

Today’s roundtable is the second of two working in collaboration with the City of Perth to help drive expert discussion around the future of the city, with the first roundtable in June this year bringing together cultural and arts experts, as well as local and state government representatives to hear from the Lord Mayor on ideas on how to continue to enhance the city’s cultural vibrancy.
