Dreams of Place
A stunning performance as ‘Dreams of Place’ lit up the Perth Concert Hall.

Attended ‘Dreams of Place’, and a special Executive Council

A brilliant blending of Noongar stories, songs, and orchestral arrangements greeted the Governor, Ms Annus and a Perth Concert Hall full of guests on Friday night when the Perth Festival event ‘Dreams of Place’ finally went ahead.

Postponed earlier this year due to Covid, the talents of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, the Western Australian Youth Orchestra, Noongar man Barry McGuire and a collective of five talented singers had the audience in awe across the evening. It was a remarkable partnership with Noongar songs beautifully arranged in an orchestral setting by Perth Festival Artistic Director and acclaimed composer Ian Grandage.

The concert, which the Governor described as fantastic, also featured some traditional orchestral works in an evening not to be forgotten.
