A stunning performance as ‘Dreams of Place’ lit up the Perth Concert Hall. Attended ‘Dreams of Place’, and a special Executive Council July 23, 2021 By Carole Kerr A brilliant blending of Noongar stories, songs, and orchestral arrangements greeted the Governor, Ms Annus and a Perth Concert Hall full of guests on Friday night when the Perth Festival event ‘Dreams of Place’ finally went ahead. Postponed earlier this year due to Covid, the talents of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, the Western Australian Youth Orchestra, Noongar man Barry McGuire and a collective of five talented singers had the audience in awe across the evening. It was a remarkable partnership with Noongar songs beautifully arranged in an orchestral setting by Perth Festival Artistic Director and acclaimed composer Ian Grandage. The concert, which the Governor described as fantastic, also featured some traditional orchestral works in an evening not to be forgotten. Special Executive Council Attorney General John Quigley MLA and Minister Reece Whitby MLA joined the Governor this morning at Government House for a special meeting of Executive Council. The Honourable John Quigley is Attorney General; Minister for Electoral Affairs. The Honourable Reece Whitby is Minister for Emergency Services; Racing and Gaming; Small Business; Volunteering.
