The Governor and Ms Annus welcolmed 60 participants in the 2021 YMCA Youth Parliament to Government House WA’s YMCA Youth Parliament ‘in session’ at Government House July 16, 2021 By Carole Kerr What a wonderful way to wind up a busy and important week of events at Government House with the Governor and Ms Annus hosting a morning tea for participants in the 2021 Western Australian YMCA Youth Parliament Program. The program, now in its 26th year, is an annual event aimed at giving a voice to WA’s young people, as well as the opportunity to learn and engage in the day-to-day workings of the WA parliament, meet politicians, draft and debate bills and develop draft legislation. Participants formed eight committees for the course of the week across a range of Government portfolio’s including Health and Mental Health, Tourism, Environment, Youth, Child Protection and Community Services, Regional and State Development, Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs, and Women’s Interest. The reception at Government House provides the opportunity for participants to also enjoy question time with the Governor and celebrate their efforts over the length of the week-long Youth Parliament event.
