A celebratory morning tea for students from Sacred Heart Primary School Celebrating clever kids, a special Swearing-in, and Executive Council August 10, 2021 By Carole Kerr Plenty of enthusiasm and plenty of questions at Government House today as we welcomed some award winners from Sacred Heart Primary School in Highgate. The Year 5 students joined the Governor for a celebratory morning tea and Government House tour in recognition of their Meritorious Leadership prize won in the 2020 Governor’s STEM Awards (primary school category). The group kept the Governor busy with plenty of questions about the House, his role as Governor and even his previous career in Federal politics. The Governor congratulated the group on their passion for discovery and learning, with student representative Jamillah thanking the Governor in return for his hospitality. Special Swearing-in Ceremony Congratulations to Mr Grant Robinson who joined the Governor for a special swearing-in ceremony at Government House. Mr Robinson is the current Head of Financial Audit at the Office of the Auditor General, with today’s official swearing-in enabling him to step into the role of Acting Auditor General should he ever be required to do so. Mr Robinson was accompanied by family, as well as WA’s Deputy Auditor General Mrs Sandra Labuschagne. Executive Council The Governor today presided over a meeting of the Executive Council (EXCO) at Government House. Joining him was Attorney General and Minister for Electoral Affairs the Honourable John Quigley MLA, and the Honourable John Carey MLA, Minister for Housing; Local Government.
